Short video I made about the Animal Liberation Front. AnimalLiberationFront.com for more info.
On the night before September 3, animal rights defenders overthrew the fence of fur farm 'Pioneer' ('Severnaya Pushnina' holding, Luzhsky district, Leningradskaya region), opened the cages and released 30 thousand mink. The animals spread as far as 5 km away from the farm. Judging by the quantity of cages opened, no less than 10 people participated in the action. The public relations department of Severnaya Pushnina declared that they have reason to suspect activists of the Animal Liberation Front are responsible.
The damage to the farm is estimated at 10 million rubles (approx. $375,000 USD). Perhaps, the farm will not be able to rise up again after such a loss. The action is a serious strike against the whole Russian fur industry. Most of the released mink were of rare color types. The selection has been performed for three years and it cannot be restored.
The general director of Severnaya Pushnina, I.V. Parkalov said to the media: 'We hope this incident will not only be properly investigated, but also will pull more attention of administrative structures in Saint-Petersburg and the region towards the activity of such extremist nature-defending organizations'.

I think that we as Americans are going to begin experiencing what the rest of the world has been experiencing for the last 20-30-40 years. When that happens, of course the government doesn't want to risk popular uprising. They don't want to risk that there will already be mechanisms in place for people to make change. They don't want to risk that there will be people already prepared to fight back against the crackdown that's sure to come once resources get scarce. And so I'd certainly say that the Patriot Act, the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act, all the other recent anti-terrorist legislation we've seen is meant more to control the civilian population of the United States than to attack "muslim extremism". -Josh Harper

These images are of Eugene riot police in a skirmish line using large clouds of tear gas to disperse undesirables. The cops used megaphones to warn people off the street but it had the opposite effect and everyone gathered to see what was up.
Update:Anarchist Action has released a communique
regarding the event documented in this video.
The difference between an anarchist approach
to organizing a march and typical authoritarian
leftist and liberal methods is that the latter
seeks to control the actions of the participants,
often squashing attempts at direct action.
Authoritarian leftist and liberal groups favor
routine, symbolic protests and beg for reforms
from the ruling class. This does little in terms
of actual resistance to the war or to whatever
social condition is being opposed. An anarchist
approach rejects all forms of authority and
therefore does not set protest laws or try to
keep people within boundaries- we believe in
freedom and when we take to the streets that
is the atmosphere we want. Anarchist Action
does not coordinate, plan or participate in
direct action, economic sabotage, or any other
similar actions, we simply organize a protest
space in which people may autonomously enact
a diversity oftactics, and express their
resistance in whatever way they choose. This is a first-person account of the protest that
occured in San Francisco on the evening of
July 8th, 2005. This protest recieved an exceptional
amount of attention due to the injury of a police
officer during a scuffle towards the end of the
protest. This video makes use of all natural sound.
di Helene Chatelain (Arch G Pinelli) The Makhnovists were a libertarian movement, rooted in the traditions of anarchist-communism, that developed an experience of revolutionary changes in the economic and political structures of Ukrainian society
For those who are not familiar with the subject, the Makhnovists were a libertarian movement, deeply rooted in the traditions of anarchist-communism, that developed an experience of revolutionary changes in the economic and political structures of the backwarded Ukrainian society - its name coming from Nestor Makhno, a remarkable militant who remained the main figure of the movement. To defend the gains of the Social Revolution, they launched a guerrilla warfare in Ukraine against a number of enemies: foreign troops, Nationalists, Whites, different warlords and Bolsheviks. Finally defeated treacherously by the Bolsheviks, the book tells the story of the movement from its very origin, contradicting the traditional view of it as appearing literally from nowhere. The movement sprung from the rebellious history of the peasant and cossack revolts of the region, and the ground for anarchist ideas was well prepared for more than 10 years before the 1917 revolution by the agitational activities of the Gulyai Polye anarchist-communist group, founded by the Semenyuta brothers and V. Antoni. Thus, anarchism had a local tradition among the local population and it was this advantage that made it fertile soil for the Makhnovist experience. At the same time, it gives a very fine description of Makhno's own life. To understand the radicality of its revolutionary convictions: the serf origins of his family, his hard life as a child labourer, his brief schooling years, his experiences of early revolt against unfair treatment given by landlords, his activities in the Gulyai Polye anarchist-communist group, the terrorist years and his imprisonement in the different dungeons of the Czar. The bulk of the book is dedicated to the revolutionary period between 1917, when Makhno gained his freedom with the February revolution, to 1921, when the Bolsheviks won complete control over Ukraine. It depicts, with first hand information and using a wide range of sources, the Makhnovist campaigns, the difficulties of revolutionary warfare and the political struggle for the triumph of the "free soviets". Well informed, it brings together valuable accounts that discredit most of the usual charges of the Bolshevik historical mythomania against him and his movement: banditry, anti-semitism, his alleged alcoholism and their self-indulgence in orgies (!). All these are systematically exposed as utter lies, with no factual evidence, but the intention of discrediting the movement. It is important to take into account that even the sacrosanct "official anarchist historian" of the Russian Revolution, Volin, echoes these false accusations - presumably, as part of a personal vendetta against Makhno, with whom they clashed over a number of issues, mainly when in exile in Paris. Thus, by way of repeating a lie again and again, many ended up accepting it as truth. This book is a healthy way of putting the record straight on the movement.

Watch the 10,000 armed forces "non-lethally" subdue 15,000 protestors. The mass spraying of bullets (rubber) into crowds, mass tasering, etc.
The 1973 film by French Situationist Guy Debord, based on the 1967 book of the same title, shows the dominating oppression of modernization of both the private and public spheres of everyday life by economic forces. The hegemonic mass media operates as a propaganda machine in both communist and capitalist nations and creates commodity fetishism in the minds of the masses.
